Ann’s Pork Chops in Orange Sauce

This dish was often on the menu when Phyllis was a kid.

Ingredients

  • 4 pork chops
  • 300 ml orange juice
  • ½ tsp ground ginger
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • salt & pepper to taste
  • 1 orange sliced
  • watercress for garnish

Instructions

  • Heat the oil in a pan and brown the pork chops on both sides.
  • Remove the chops from the pan and drain off any surplus oil.
  • Return the chops to the pan. Add the orange juice, brown sugar, and ground ginger. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  • Cover the pan and let the chops simmer for 25 minutes, turning them once or twice during cooking.
  • Uncover the pan and adjust the seasoning if needed.
  • Arrange the pork chops on a serving dish. Pour over the sauce and garnish each chop with slices of orange and watercress.
