Ingredients
- 125 g butter soft
- 125 g sugar
- 3 eggs
- ½ tbsp baking powder
- 250 g flour
- 1.5 kg apples peeled and cored
- Butter for greasing the form
For brushing
- 30 g butter
- 2 tbsp sugar
- ½ tbsp cinnamon
Instructions

- Grease a 26 cm springform tin.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the margarine or butter, sugar, eggs, baking powder and flour to make a batter.
- Cut the apples into large pieces (e.g., eighths, depending on the size of the apples) and fold them into the batter.
- Pour the mixture into the prepared tin and smooth it out (easier said than done).
- Bake on the lower rack of the oven for about 45 minutes.
- Mix butter, sugar and cinnamon, and brush this on top of the cake.
- Bake for another ten minutes.
- If the cake starts to brown too early, cover it with baking paper for the remaining baking time.
Notes
This delicious, super moist apple cake goes perfectly with whipped cream.
It may seem like there are too many apples in proportion to the batter, but don't worry. The batter will make its way through the apples, serving primarily as a binder for the apples.
